The Networking

We invite you to take a couple of hours out of your day to connect with others in the industry to discuss high level topics of real importance, develop new relationships and gain critical information. This is a rare opportunity to network with other senior management professionals from associations, charities and other non-profit organisations. Ample opportunity will be given for you to discuss issues and network with others.

The Topic

After his appointment in 2008, Graham and his team led a program of significant reform across nearly every area of the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA). By 2012, that first strategic plan and the “turnaround” were effectively completed. Governance, financial management, human resources and reporting systems had all been improved, and those changes delivered:

  • Revenue growth from $7.5 to $11 million per annum
  • Total membership growth from 4600 to 8500, and core vet membership growth from 4200 to 5600
  • 90% student membership of all Australian veterinary students

Find out how, after the turnaround, the AVA leadership team faced a whole new challenge: where to next? As a leader in their industry, they had to discover how to find new direction, inspire and re-energise themselves and their team to avoid the risk of complacency.

The Speaker
Graham Catt, Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA)

Graham Catt is the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA), the national professional association for veterinarians with over 8500 members. Graham represents the veterinary profession in a range of industry and government forums, is an active participant in business networks, and regularly speaks on issues affecting associations and the not for profit sector. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
