Workshops: Governance Fundamentals

These special AuSAE Workshops are suitable for anyone tasked with organisational planning, board liaison, managing staff or those who are currently CEO, executive, management or on Boards of associations and other not for profits.

We all know that good governance is vital for an organisation to achieve the impact it wants. Though good governance can sometimes be elusive. Common complaints include the Board ‘micro-managing’, being ‘too controlling’ or ‘too hands-off'.

Attend this workshop to explore what lies behind both high quality governance and governance challenges.
Specifically the training will explore:

  • what is good governance
  • a range of governance models
  • core governance and management roles and responsibilities including negotiating and agreeing to these roles and responsibilities
  • the governance requirements of different stages of organisational development
  • creating and maintaining an engaged Board
  • Governance development that is right for your organisation
To be effective, Boards must know the business well enough to provide leadership without doing the job of management for them. This special workshop will focus on why and how to create engaged Boards who govern well.
