Topic

Effective communication is a vital tool for any professional. An executive who can make a compelling presentation, communicate succinctly, sound persuasive and motivate a team to action is someone who will success in a 21st century workplace. After all, your success at getting your point across can be the difference between on-boarding a new partner and a missed opportunity! Communication is also important within the organisation, helping to foster good working relationships between team members which in turn can improve morale and efficiency. Good communication is essential for a sense of wellbeing, autonomy and mastery over our work and personal lives. When we do not speak out concerning things that are important to us, it can lead to conflict, resentment, self-blame and unhappiness which may negatively impact on work performance.

In this talk you will:
  • Learn a technique for having difficult conversations that empowers both parties.
  • Identify the unquestioned assumptions that limit the context in which people communicate

  • Get to the bottom of why our buttons get pressed by certain people and not others.
  • Understand some of the games, dances and dynamics that inhibit communication.
  • Understand how to increase your influence by getting your own house in order first.
  • Identify conversational dances and how to create better moves so everyone is in step.
