The Topic

As May approaches and the Treasurer hones his razor, many organisations are rightly nervous about who will have funding cut and who won’t - or more likely who will get any of the ever reducing magic pudding. Some organisations are training hard while beavering away at pre-budget submissions, while others are getting lean by seeing what they can do without if there is anything to cut in the first place. However the Treasurer will not necessarily focus on how detailed your submission is or how worthy your cause; he will look at what political muscle you have. That is what political capital you control and how well you can use it for OR against the Government.

This presentation will cover:

  • How to avoid the constant threat of annual budget time
  • What is political capital and why you want it
  • How mobilising political capital wins you members as well as friends in high places
  • Why building political capital is a numbers game but not one your accountant can help with
